Unix FAQ

1. Where do I upload my files?
All filers need to be copied in to the public_html folder. CGI Scripts go in to the cgi-bin folder.

2. What do I call the first page of my website?
The 1st page of your site should be called index.htm (all in lower case).

3. Is the UNIX server case sensitive?
Yes. All of your filenames should be in lower case.

4. Can I set up a form?
Yes, there is a formmail.pl script provided in the CGI-BIN that you can use to create a form.

5. Can I have a .htaccess file?
Unfortunately, we do not allow write access to the .htaccess file or for one to be created in the hosting space.

6. What is the host address?
The host address is ftp.legend.co.uk

7. Will asp work on UNIX? ASP will only work on our NT platforms.

8. Do FrontPage extensions work on the UNIX Server? No, you will need to move on to the FrontPage hosting platform or on to our NT hosting platform.
