Will my email address change?

No, you will have the same email address following the migration.

What is a 'catch-all' email address?

Mail to an address that is not aliased to a specific mailbox will be delivered to the default mailbox for a domain. If this mailbox accepts any address within the domain it is referred to as a catch-all and is typically represented as an email address without a specific lefthand side (LHS), ie @your-domain.co.uk.

 

Historically most email accounts for a domain would operate as a catch-all. However, with the massively increased spam levels of today's internet, catch-alls are easily abused with a 'dictionary' attack of randomly generated LHS so are generally discouraged.

Will my email responders be migrated?

Where possible we have maintained the configuration of email responders during the migration process. You may modify the configuration of your email forwarders via the Legend Control Panel. (Note - Demon Mailbox Basic customers cannot make modifications)

How do I migrate my Legend mail to the Demon mail service?

Visit the Legend Control Panel. Click on Migrate Mail in the lefthand navigation and then follow the on screen instructions. Each domain must be selected from the Mail Migration page and migrated individually.

I have a Legend hosted website, how will this be affected?

Your website hosting will not be affected by this migration.

Will there be any downtime as a result of this migration?

No. Customers that migrate within the 30 day timescale will not experience any downtime.

I use the email service which is bundled with my Demon broadband package, can I cancel my old Legend email service?

If you have Demon email service bundled with your Demon broadband (with email addresses ending .demon.co.uk) and are now exclusively using that service, then you could consider the following:

  1. If you previously purchased a freestanding chargeable email service from Legend consider cancelling your Legend email service to make a cost saving.
  2. If your Legend email service was part of a product bundle, no cost saving can be made so you need not do anything, i.e. let the migration deadline pass and your old Legend email addresses will cease automatically.
  3. If your old email address was of the format user@pipemedia.net or user@kbnet.net there is a further option. Ask for your email addressed to your old account to be diverted, free of charge, to your Demon email address that is associated with your Demon broadband or Demon Standard Dial Up account. Simply follow the instructions emailed to you on 14th February 2008.

I have already migrated my broadband to Demon, do I have to migrate my email too?

Yes, if any of the following apply to you:

 
  1. You are still receiving email at a Legend, Pipemedia, BusinessServe, DNGB or KBmedia email address,
  2. You are still receiving email with addresses at domain names that were purchased through the above services
  3. you are using any of the above services to divert incoming email traffic to your new Demon broadband address


What if I want to change the packages/services I receive?

It is not currently possible to change your package.
