Legend Mail Migration

Will I have to make any changes to my email settings once the migration has taken place?

Yes, you will be given a new Demon username, password and server address when you go through the online Migration process. You will need to change these settings in desktop email clients (such as Outlook or Outlook Express). Please visit our knowledgebase at http://knowledge.legend.co.uk to find out how to do this.

Why am I being asked to pay by Credit Card?

Your payment method is not being changed.

Will you be inserting adverts in webmail as consumer service providers do?

No, we offer a business email service and will not insert advert text to the bottom of your e-mail, nor sell advertising space on your screen. This allows your webmail pages to download to your screen faster, and keeps you in control of the content of your email.

Is my outbound mail limited?

You can send emails up to 30MB in size.

How long does mail stay in my mail Trash Can?

Email that has been in the webmail trash can for more than 7 days will automatically be deleted. Email you have downloaded to your own desktop client and then put in its trash can, is entirely under your control and not affected by our webmail trash can policy.

Can I use webmail to manage my mail when I am away from my usual base?

Yes, if you have Demon MailBox Professional or Demon MailBox Advanced. In these cases the Storage quotas are more important to you as you will likely be leaving mail on our server. So in addition to your quota you have a further 2.5MB for your Deleted Messages folder.

What is the storage quota for my mailbox?

Email storage quotas are:

Demon Professional Mailbox 200MB

Demon Advanced Mailbox 40MB

Demon Basic Mailbox 12MB

When your desktop email client does a “Send/Receive”, it usually empties all the incoming mail from our servers automatically. This means customers that regularly download their emails are unlikely to reach their quotas.

Will there be any restrictions on the new service?

THUS plc has a long standing “Acceptable Use Policy” which, among other things, prohibits the sending of spam. To prevent congestion on the new infrastructure, each customer’s email storage quota will be enforced. The service includes efficient spam filters to maximise space available for messages that matter to you. Will I have to commit to a minimum contract period?

No, your existing contract terms will apply.

What is the cost if I miss the 30 day deadline?

For approximately two weeks after the deadline, a reduced level of service will be available on the old servers before all mail on it is deleted irrecoverably. The reduced level of service means the old mail servers will be open only a few hours each day for you to recover your email.

No telephone support for the old mail server will be available, but you will be able to use the existing online Password Reset facility if your account had one.
